God is our
refuge and strength, an ever present help in
trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the
earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart
of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the
mountains quake with their surging. Psalm
46:1-3
This is a time for
prayer to God, our
refuge and strength! He is present in this time of
trouble.
While
officials at many levels marshal their resources to
investigate, recover and do all that is needed in
the horrendous tragedy that took place in
Minneapolis yesterday, we must marshal our
forces and pray.
In a speech this morning, President Bush
said, “I told them we would help with rescue
efforts, but I also told them how much we
are in prayer...
And I thank my fellow citizens for holding up those
who are suffering right now in prayer.”
A woman, upon learning that her sister who she
believed dead was, in fact, alive said, “I feel
more peace than I’ve felt in years. God does answer
prayers!”
Please
join me in prayer for the people of Minneapolis/St.
Paul. Let’s pray around these prayer points and any
others you consider important:
- Comfort for
family members who have lost loved ones.
- Healing for
those who are injured.
- Peace for those
who await news of a missing loved one.
- Wisdom, safety
and protection for officials executing recovery
work.
- Investigators
seeking to discern what happened so as to
prevent future tragedies.
- Wisdom and
guidance for officials providing support and
leadership including:
- Mary Peters,
Secretary of Transportation
- Mark
Rosenker, Chairman, National Transportation
Safety Board
- Tim Pawlenty,
Governor of Minnesota
- R.T. Rybak,
Mayor of Minneapolis
- Jim Clack,
Fire Chief of Minneapolis
- Tim Dolan,
Police Chief of Minneapolis
- Paramedics,
EMTs and hospital personnel
- Search crews
seeking to recover missing persons

I invite you to post your prayers for the people in
Minneapolis on
Presidential
Prayer Team's
Prayer Wall.
Thank
you for your prayers. Let’s look to the Lord God
with expectancy and hope as we lift up all who are
impacted by this tragic situation.
