Flood
Relief Servant Event
When: Saturday,
September 29
Volunteers:
Mike Kinsley, Paul Kolbo, Tosca Grimm, Joey Byron, Carolyn Johnson,
Pastor Mark
Where: Grace
Lutheran, Stockton (it was raining too hard to go out into the
community)
Project:
insulating, sheet rocking the basement and kitchen, de-molding
woodwork and heating system, and bringing encouragement and cheer in
the name of Christ to those effected by the flooding.
The rains of the third weekend of August resulted in flooding in southeastern
Minnesota. LCMS congregations effected include: Eyota, LaCrescent,
Lewiston, Owatonna, Rushford, St. Charles, Winona, and Stockton. These
congregations are also assisting those in the greater communities they seek to
serve.
The Congregation we served in Stockton had extensive damage to church and
parsonage basements; over three feet of sewage in the basements; lost the
kitchen, refrigerator, stove, water heater, furnace, complete electrical
rewiring, drywall and flooring, washer and dryer. Numerous members lost
their homes and or had extensive damage. Pastor Krusemark and his new
wife, Elizabeth, were just married on August 11. They lost wedding gifts
and their car in the flooding that rolled swiftly into town at 3am. If you are interested in heading south to serve there
are some wonderful projects planned. What are you doing on MEA
weekend, October 18-20? Click
here! We have partnered with
Woodbury Lutheran to serve. Financial gifts are also
tremendously helpful for those displaced.
